Paul Bayning
Paul Bayning and his brother Andrew opened up trading in the Levant in the 16th and 17th centuries. They established almshouses in the parish of St Olave's.
Elizabeth Pepys
Elizabeth Pepys. Elizabeth was the long suffering wife of samuel Pepys. They married young and for love. She was 15 and he 22 years old. She died after 14 years of marriage after a visit to France.

The old gateway in to the graveyard. Dickens named it the St Ghastly Grim - his favourite churchyard; to be visited in thunder storms when the lightning lit up the skulls with sudden and vivid effect.
